dt carters fashion

The Carter family clothing business started up in Invercargill in 1901 as a menswear store. With a family tradition in retail David Carter, part of the fourth generation Carter family, expanded the business into womens fashion in 1980 opening the doors in Invercargill to the newly named store, d t carter focusing solely on high end, top New Zealand designer womens fashion. d t carter currently operates as a privately owned family business with four stores operating throughout the lower South Island and continues to grow.

In 1999 David was joined by his wife, Tania where they continued to grow the business resulting in the purchase of the iconic store – French Floozie in Dunedin. Queenstown was next on the list, opening up in Gorge Road Retail Centre where they were happily located for 8 years until 2008, when the store relocated to Remarkables Park Town Centre.

In 2004 the business expanded, successfully opening a surf/streetwear clothing store in Invercargill called Raw Energy, stocking top international and home grown brands for men and women.

Today, Tania Carter oversees the running of all four stores, continuing to strive for achievement by always looking for new and exciting up and coming brands and designers. “Fashion is an exciting and stimulating industry to work in – always progressive, challenging and of course fun.”
